Do you have to create something all the time to be an artist? I feel like my film making is art, but I only write one screenplay a year, if that.
Instead my time is spent playing videos games, browsing the net, taking care of the house or nibbler or my husband.
Am I whining? I don't know, more like I am frustrated with myself for not pushing harder to work everyday. Sadness.

Nah you don't have to create something ALL the time. If you did that then you'd run out of steam.

when you want to be professional artist: yes.
if you want to be a hobby artist: no. it's alright.
I came over from CA, that's how I found this journal
My best suggestion (based on some of your previous comments about starting new things) is to put aside your worry that any given thing won't turn out the way you want, and just draw/paint. Don't worry if you totally botch something, it's all part of the learning process.
I tend to carry around a sketchbook soley for doodles. I doodle the heck out of it, scribble whatever comes to mind, and come back later to the ones I like and flesh them out into finished stuff. Doodling is a great thing to do when you don't feel super motivated, and there's no worry if something turns out badly.

A wise friend once told me "You can't spell funeral without FUN!", so true. That same friend also told me "If at first you don't succeed, whack it with a stick.", he's so brilliant.
