Note me
Yeah I thought I was back to dA but I'm not really. My husband goes back to work tomorrow so hopefully I won't be distracted so much so I can actually draw something.
It's like having your best friend live with you, and neither of you have to work, so you just play video games, watch stuff, and go shopping every day. It's really really awesome, but you never get anything done.
We've been watching a lot of great tv shows lately- Lexx, Witchblade, John Doe, and movies- Crank 2, Star Trek, Ghost Dog: the Way of the Samurai. And some not so great movies, like TWILIGHT, which I also read, and hated. It's very, urmm, how do you say...not feminist at all, and really creepy. The dude stalks her, and tells her he could kill her at any time if he doesn't control himself. WTF. It's alright to be a damsel in distress and want to be saved all the time, but be honest about it! Bella acts like she's all tough, but she lets Edward do all of the talking, all the decision making, and lets him control who she talks to. I seriously felt like it was written in the vein of a barely suppressed softcore erotica. There's all the tension, and none of the consummation, which doesn't work well for me. Being a vampire is all about temptation, and giving into it, that's part of the fun guys. You have awesome powers, get to live forever and stay young, what's there to whine about?
And the writing, oh lord, don't get me started on the writing style. It's so bland and sounds like a writing project from middle school- use as many adjectives and adverbs as you can, even if you repeat yourself 10 times in one chapter!
If you want good vampire reading, check out Love Bites by Lynsay Sands, Bloodsucking Fiends (and its sequel) by Christopher Moore, and the Vampire Chronicles and Pandora by Anne Rice.

yes, i know my quotes kind of invalidate each other. blame irony.
I saw about five minute of the Twilight movie (wtf was that sparkly thing, it looked like he was just really sweaty...) though my friend's girlfriend put it best: "If you're a twelve year old girl that believes love can conquer all differences, you'll love this movie. If you're the rest of the known world, you'll think it sucks." I love vampires (REAL vampires, not those whiny things) I hate teenage drama, and teenage vampire drama makes me puke....
Anyway, it's thunderstorming, so I think I shall head off here....

The sad thing is that a lot of people who are interested in Twilight are NOT 12 D: My mother and brother in law just loved the books. I had to stop every few pages to rant about it to my husband because I was so angry at what the characters were doing. I started reading a vampire romance novel (ROMANCE NOVEL!!!) that is written 100x better than Twilight, and would make a much better movie. Le sigh. I wish it was thunderstorming here

Now, if any dragonriding books should be made into movies, it's the "Temeraire" series.
Meh. The art of storytelling has been going steadily downhill it seems, at least in mainstream stuff.

I mean, how hard is it to get a good script? There has to be a good fanfiction or comic they could have drawn on for the movie.

Too many movies nowadays are driven only by the fancy CGI speciel fx, it's sad. Who cares about substance when you can BLOW THINGS UP!! AND HAVE AWESOME FIGHT SCENES!!! Blar.
You know why mainstream Hollywood movies suck? Because all the good writers are out doing their own thing. Like independent film stuff. Us little independent shmoes just don't have the huge budget and publicity of Hollywood, so we don't get noticed as much...
