I know the feeling, save for the 'not having to work' thing. Kat and I never get any sleep. We go to bed three hours before we go to sleep, if only because if not, we'll be up until the sun comes up, giggling and talking and discussing.

I know all about not having to work; neither me nor my significant other have an actual structured paying job, and I can procrastinate a little if I'm not booted in the ass every five minutes....but fortunately for me, he's very driven, so it rubs off on me. We both set up and work in the same room, and we tend to get a lot more done (he writes, I art)

I saw about five minute of the Twilight movie (wtf was that sparkly thing, it looked like he was just really sweaty...) though my friend's girlfriend put it best: "If you're a twelve year old girl that believes love can conquer all differences, you'll love this movie. If you're the rest of the known world, you'll think it sucks." I love vampires (REAL vampires, not those whiny things) I hate teenage drama, and teenage vampire drama makes me puke....

Anyway, it's thunderstorming, so I think I shall head off here....

What's worse is now he's working 2-3 hours a day for the next month until his next rotation starts (which will be 8-12 hrs). So he's gone for a little bit, and then doesn't want to do anything when he gets home!! I kind of miss having a roommate that would do homework at the same time as me etc.

The sad thing is that a lot of people who are interested in Twilight are NOT 12 D: My mother and brother in law just loved the books. I had to stop every few pages to rant about it to my husband because I was so angry at what the characters were doing. I started reading a vampire romance novel (ROMANCE NOVEL!!!) that is written 100x better than Twilight, and would make a much better movie. Le sigh. I wish it was thunderstorming here :(

I'm amazed at the kind of things that have been successfully made into movies. Like "Eragon." Granted, the movie was about a thousand times better than the book, but still....who could read that book and go "OMG IT SHOULD TOTALLY BE A MOVIE!!!" It's a badly written total ripoff of Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Anne McCaffery's "Dragons of Pern" series. And the second book was so horrendous I gave up four chapters in.
Now, if any dragonriding books should be made into movies, it's the "Temeraire" series.

Meh. The art of storytelling has been going steadily downhill it seems, at least in mainstream stuff.

Super late post omg. I always say that the mainstream stuff is the lowest common denominator. Have you seen the GI JOE movie? My husband loves GI JOE, but he couldn't get over how absolutely retarded that "film" was. The plot was shit, both the good and evil characters did things that made no sense (destroying thousands of dollars of public property in Paris, France; hitting on a hot female character, not because she's interesting, but because she's the only female in the group), and it was completely driven by special fx.

I mean, how hard is it to get a good script? There has to be a good fanfiction or comic they could have drawn on for the movie.

Tell me about it. Most of my friends are old school GI Joe fans, and I've heard plenty of terrible things about that movie. Like the so-called Dragonball Z live-action movie--those same guys are also old school DBZ fans, and that movie was a travesty. So in retaliation, we're making a DBZ skit, true to the nature of the series.

Too many movies nowadays are driven only by the fancy CGI speciel fx, it's sad. Who cares about substance when you can BLOW THINGS UP!! AND HAVE AWESOME FIGHT SCENES!!! Blar.

You know why mainstream Hollywood movies suck? Because all the good writers are out doing their own thing. Like independent film stuff. Us little independent shmoes just don't have the huge budget and publicity of Hollywood, so we don't get noticed as much...
